Amazon kicked off its Black Friday deals a bit early this year – 53 days early. The e-commerce giant is getting an early start in offering millions of deals ahead of the holiday season, which is expected to be the most chaotic given the global shipping and supply shortage.
On Monday, Amazon announced that it would offer “deep discounts” across various categories, including fashion, home goods, and electronics. Some of the popular brands that will be discounted during October and November include Apple, Hasbro, and KitchenAid.
Amazon has launched a new feature that lets its Prime members send a gift without the recipient’s address. Senders can just place the order using the recipient’s email or mobile number. The company’s app will then notify them about the purchase and provide them with a gift card.
It’s also bringing back its “Deal Days” on October 10. These days will feature savings on thousands of products.
Due to the increasing number of products being sold during the holiday season, retailers are experiencing a tight supply of goods. This has caused a demand-driven shortage of products such as cars and shoes.
There were also factory closures in China due to the Covid-19 issue. In the US, the Postal Service raised prices due to the increased demand.
On November 1, FedEx will add a fuel surcharge on certain packages, including those shipped through FedEx Express and FedEx Ground.
