Starbucks Introduces New Apple Crisp Macchiato To Pumpkin Spice Fall Lineup

Starbucks kicked off the autumn season with the release of its pumpkin spice drinks flavored drinks, pastries, and other products. The company has also released a new limited-time addition to its seasonal lineup – its new Apple Crisp Macchiato.

The new drink will join the company’s famous Pumpkin Spice Latte and Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew on the menu this year. Starbucks said the new items are now available at its cafes in the U.S. and Canada starting today, Tuesday.

Starbuck’s Apple Crisp Macchiato is a modified espresso drink that contains apple and brown sugar flavor topped with caramelized apple puree drizzle. Customers can opt to get the Apple Crisp Macchiato as a hot or cold beverage.

The company said the new drink was created by its development team who were aiming to explore more fall-themed flavors beyond pumpkins. The team’s market research led them to baked apples, which inspired the new drink. According to their research, Apples are one of the country’s most favorite fruits, appearing on 58% of the U.S. menus.

“Pumpkin spice is now a default option on fall menus, so foodservice operators have to find new flavors to set themselves apart, which is why we see additional flavors like chai and apple trending in the fall,” market research company Datassential said.

Apart from the new drinks, Starbucks will also be releasing new limited-edition snack items. This includes its new Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffin and Pumpkin Scones. The snacks will be added to the company’s Pumpkin Loaf, which is now a year-round item on its menu.

Starbucks originally introduced its now-famous Pumpkin Spice Latte to the world in 2003. The drink, which has pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, and clove, has since become the company’s most famous seasonal beverage. From 2003 to 2015, Starbucks said it had sold more than 200 million Pumpkin Spice Lattes.
