Actress Annie Wersching, known for her roles on TV shows like “Star Trek: Picard,” “24,” “Bosch,” and “Timeless,” passed away on Sunday in Los Angeles at 45. Her publicist Craig Schneider confirmed her death due to cancer and praised her determination in continuing her acting career despite her 2020 diagnosis.
Wersching played the Borg Queen in “Star Trek: Picard” and Rosalind Dyer in “The Rookie,” as well as memorable characters like police officer Julia Brasher in “Bosch,” engineer Emma Whitmore in “Timeless,” and special FBI agent Renee Walker in “24.
Ms. Wersching was born and raised in St. Louis by her parents Sandy and Frank Wersching. She leaves behind her husband and three children, Freddie, Ozzie, and Archie Full.”
Ms. Wersching, in an interview with “The Ready Room” on Paramount+, described playing the Borg Queen as “intimidating.” She familiarized herself with previous performances before bringing her own interpretation to the role. She’s excited for people to see it as it’s an iconic role.
Akiva Goldsman, executive producer of “Picard,” called Wersching a “gift” and “joy” to work with. The “Star Trek” family is heartbroken, he said.
Director and producer of “24,” Jon Cassar, mourned the loss of a colleague and friend, Annie. He described her as having an open heart and contagious smile, with talent that took his breath away. He said she’ll be deeply missed.
