In a notable move, Microsoft’s Bing Chat is no longer confined to the Edge browser, as it rolls out to Chrome and Safari, reaching a wider audience. The expansion aims to test its functionality on other browsers and select users are already gaining access. However, there are some limitations in this early stage, such as shorter prompt length and conversation resets.
Bing Chat utilizes OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4, offering users access to its capabilities without any charges. While Bing Chat benefits from Bing Search integration, providing up-to-date information and sources for responses, OpenAI’s standalone ChatGPT-4 is known for more in-depth replies. Some experts have questioned a recent paper claiming ChatGPT-4’s diminishing capabilities, dismissing the concerns.
In addition to browser accessibility, Microsoft has introduced a much-awaited dark mode for Bing Chat, enhancing user experience. The dark mode can be accessed by selecting “Appearance/Dark” from the hamburger menu, although its availability may vary for different users.
