Nintendo Releases New Switch With Larger OLED Screen

The Nintendo Switch got an upgraded OLED display with a larger and brighter screen. This is the first major upgrade to the popular gaming console from the company.

The new model is available at a wide range of retailers, including Best Buy, Amazon, and Walmart. However, as with the previous model, there are a limited number of available units.

The new Nintendo Switch features a 7-inch screen, which is larger than the 6.2-inches on the standard model. The new model also has better sound quality and a wider range of features.

Since OLED displays use the same light source as LCDs, they have better pops of color and better contrast. But, unlike LCDs, they can also turn individuals pixels for better blacks.

The new Switch has the same resolution as the regular model and the same battery life. Its internals, such as its CPU and RAM, are also identical to the regular model. Its internal storage did get a small bump, from 32GB to 64GB. However, users are still likely better off installing a separate microSD card with a higher storage capacity.

The latest generation of the OLED console is a hybrid device that can be used both on the TV and on a tabletop. It features a touchscreen monitor that works in handheld mode and a dock that works seamlessly with TVs.

The announcement comes as the gaming industry continues to grapple with a global shortage of chips caused by the pandemic. Nintendo sold almost 38.8 million Switch consoles in the last year, and its life-date sales have reached over 85 million units.

Following the release of the Nintendo Switch’s latest software update, the company had officially launched the ability to pair with both audio and wireless controllers.
