A California mother has been arrested and is now facing multiple criminal charges over her throwing wild parties for her teenage son and his friends, which involved teenage sex and alcohol. The mother allegedly pushed teenagers, the majority of whom are minors, to become intoxicated and have sex.
Shannon Marie O’Connor was detained by authorities in Ada County, Idaho, and is now awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County. Child molestation, providing alcohol to minors, and misdemeanor counts of sexual violence are among the charges brought against the 47-year-old mother. O’Connor works at Aruba Networks, a Hewlett Packard subsidiary, as an administrative assistant.
Christina Hanks of the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office claimed O’Connor had thrown parties for young boys and girls at her house in Silicon Valley and other locations. O’Connor reportedly offered one boy a condom and then locked him in a room with an inebriated girl at one party.
O’Connor reportedly witnessed five 14-year-olds having intoxicated teen sex at another party on New Year’s Eve. During the event, one female was allegedly sexually molested. According to court documents, O’Conner compelled an intoxicated adolescent to have sex with a drunken 14-year-old girl inside her house at another party. Prosecutors said one of the teenagers was so inebriated at one of the parties that she nearly drowned in the hot tub.
Investigators discovered that between June 2020 and May 2021, O’Connor hosted at least six big parties for adolescents. A Halloween celebration at her Los Gatos house was one of the largest. According to reports, the party drew up to 20 teens.
O’Connor is said to have kept the fact that she threw such gatherings hidden from her husband. She was also accused of bullying a kid who had informed others about her gatherings.
The gatherings were so out of control that several of the adolescents who had come forward told investigators that some of them had blacked out or vomited profusely on multiple occasions. Concussions and a fractured finger were among the injuries experienced by some. According to reports, O’Connor also had let teens without driver’s licenses drive her cars.
