Former Donald Trump returned to Iowa on Saturday for his first campaign appearance since the 2020 presidential elections. Trump told a crowd of his supporters that he intends to “take America back.”
Trump attacked Joe Biden and the Democratic Party during the rally in Des Moines. He accused his rival of being a failed president and said that the country is in peril.
Trump has yet to formally announce that he would be running in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
“We’re going to take America back,” Trump said during the 90-minute speech.
During his speech, Trump said that he would take America back. He also touted his win in 2020 in the state – defeating Joe Biden by a 53% to 45% margin in the 2020 presidential election.
According to a Mediacom Iowa poll, around 53% of Iowans said they view Trump favorably – a big jump from the 48% recorded when Trump was still in office. Meanwhile, Biden currently has a 37% favorable rating in the state.
Trump also teased a possible 2024 slogan, which would be “Make America Great Again – Again.”
During his speech at the Iowa State Fair, Trump complimented the state’s great infrastructure and said that despite the current administration’s disastrous record, he still enjoys living in Iowa.
Trump also repeated his concerns about the integrity of the 2020 election and urged his supporters to get out and vote in the 2022 midterms.
“We must send the radical left a message they will never forget,” Trump said.
